Meet Dr. Henry Browning When he is not busy helping people with their smiles, you'll find Dr. Henry (Putt) Browning on the golf course or under a pile of sawdust as a woodworking hobbyist. He also lends his voice to Ashley High School as announcer for the football and basketball games. The 1987 UNC-Chapel Hill grad (BA, economics) spent some time traveling and working in exotic places before returning to school to earn a dental degree from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in 1996. Two years later, he earned his certificate from the school's Department of Orthodontics. In 1999 he founded the Medical College of Virginia Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation Endowment, which helps attract and retain key faculty members from a pool of the nation's top orthodontic educators. Today he maintains orthodontic practices in the Monkey Junction area and in Jacksonville, NC, his hometown. Locally, he supports a wide range of community programs and is a frequent visitor to elementary and middle schools where he speaks to kids about oral health. He and his wife, Wendy, moved to Wilmington, NC in 1998 and have three children, Mac, Dean and Anne Cathryn.
